How to Get Rid of Skin Stretch Marks
Males and females of all ages deal with the formation of purplish or reddish scar like blemishes on the skin. This condition is known as stretch marks, or more technically striae. These blemishes often resemble long stripes, scars, bands, or lines.
Causes
Put simply, the cause of striae is rapid stretching of the skin during periods of accelerated adolescent growth. It also could occur as a result of excess weight gain that takes place as a teenager or for women when she is pregnant.
Sometimes middle-aged or older men experience this problem when they do not exercise often enough. Middle-aged women who are going through menopause who are gaining weight might experience this problem as well.
Solution (How to Conceal)
One way to deal with this problem is to learn how to hide stretch marks. This is done in a variety of ways. Some of the easiest ways to conceal this type of skin blemish are presented below:
Wear a bathing suit that covers the problem area. This is easy to do if you want to hide stretch marks that appear in the “stomach” or abdominal area. You can always wear a one-piece suit. If striae are present on your upper thighs, it may be possible to cover them by wearing a skirt if you are female or longer swimming shorts if you are a man.
Using body makeup, preferably with sunscreen. There is such a thing as body makeup, and even tinted sunscreen. If you have very light skin you should try to find the darkest color of body makeup or tinted sunscreen available and apply it as generously as you can. Of course, make sure the product has safe ingredients in it.
Use moisturizers to reduce them. Oftentimes lotions with mild and natural ingredients in them can correct the problem. You may not be able to eliminate them, but with regular use of the right skin cream, you can dramatically improve the appearance of them.
Apply a sunless tanning lotion. This may work in the event you do not want to become sunburned but you want to reduce the appearance of long red or purple lines on your body. Before you apply a sunless tanning lotion on your body please test it in an unnoticeable location on your skin. The reason why is because this is a solution that causes a reaction that changes your skin tone. One of the risks of using a sunless tanning lotion is that your skin can turn orange. Be careful.
Go to a tanning bed (with caution). You might be able to correct or improve the appearance of striae on your skin by attending tanning sessions. Beware though that excess usage of this type of tanning procedure can dry out your skin and cause wrinkles. Therefore, be careful.
